Retail sales vs online sales.

by Jimboot on December 22, 2010

There has been a fair bit of talk recently about the slump this Christmas in Australian retail sales. One of the main protagonists has been Gerry Harvey of the retail chain Harvey Norman. A bit of a war of words has sprung up though, with online retailer Ruslan Kogan. Today I have a look at the discussion and what Gerry Harvey was saying 10 years ago about the Internet.  The slump in retail sales doesn’t seem to be happening in the US or Canada so I would have to conclude the main reason for strong online sales is because of the strength of our dollar.

Also an update on David Meerman Scott tour dates as well as how the ‘bottom up’ control of the net is under attack again from politicians.
